Thank you Trump for starting wars that drives gas prices up! I didn’t know you secretly cared about climate change while saying “drill baby, drill!” Can anything you say be taken at face value?
Your war has found the fastest way to curtail excessive frivolous fuel usage, encourage EV’s and renewable energy, discourage tourism and unnecessary air travel, etc.. Above is a chart of March 2nd, 2026, average gasoline prices per gallon in Europe. Europeans know that taxing gasoline is the right thing to offset the damage it does.
When did it become the right of USA citizens to:
- Live miles from their work
- Fly to their relatives multiple times a year
- Visit any country, any time, multiple times per year
Gosh, how would we have fun without so much travel – watch Wild Kingdom?
Unfortunately, war has enormous energy consequences, immediate waste energy, cost of rebuilding and lots of CO2. Is there a breakeven point where less travel might offset set the ecological cost of war?
For 40 years, I have believed that gasoline and other petroleum products, like plastic, should be tax until they reach parity with Europe. I would do this with a $0.25 tax per year over several years. Gasoline and many commodities should be priced at their value not the cost of extraction.
