Cost of Crude 2026

US Oil: Obscene Profits

The US oil companies set their domestic prices based on the international cost of crude using an index like Brent as shown above. Why? This index has nothing to do with the real cost of extracting a barrel in continental US. As the graph above shows, prior to the war of stupidity in Iran, the average cost of Brent was about $65. Why would that cost increase within US borders when we are self-sufficient, having no need to buy on the world market???

The oil companies, greedy bastards that they are, charge what they can. Why isn’t anyone one questioning this?

Why would we deplete the US strategic oil reserves in an pretend attempt to lower prices? Empathy for the common citizen?

Where are the windfall profit taxes? Frankly, the price should be high, but the extra cost should be returned to the people not the billionaires. The price of crude should reflect the true cost of using this dirty fuel. They call it crude for a reason – it is the old, simplistic, self-defeating energy of the past.

Why isn’t this source of energy not treated like its counterpart: electricity? Shouldn’t all sources of energy be managed like a public utility?

Instead, why doesn’t Trump get out the magic marker and limit US produced crude to the US market at a price that is a fixed percentage over the true cost of production????

Americans, look past the bullshit. The Iran war is just another transfer of money to billionaire oligarchs, so they have money to bribe the government – the vicious cycle of greed emboldened by Trump.
